The Soup Kitchen/Ayethu Educare Drop Off Point
The Soup Kitchen and Ayethu Educare (PLETT MEAL CENTRE NPO No.135-456) have a new permanent Drop Off Point at the Sotheby’s International Realty office in Main Street. The 16 year old Soup Kitchen serves over 300 people daily for free from local communities. The aim is to provide at least one nutritious meal daily for all our residents in need. More than two thirds of those served are children who are served first, followed by the HIV positive and clinic patients and the elderly. Ayethu Educare, a playgroup of 16 children, started two years ago, after concern about the number of small children loitering around the premises. A number of these children have lost their parents and are cared for by relatives. Please give donations of dry and canned food for The Soup Kitchen, and toys, clothing and essential goods for Ayethu Educare. New or second hand toys for Christmas presents for the children will be greatly appreciated.
Plett Property Plett is set for another bumper season, with all accommodation being fully booked months before the summer holiday. 2014 has been another good year for us. The top end of the market has been particularly active and prices have started rise in this segment, as previously predicted. This is due to the relative scarcity of supply and the profits made on the stock markets recently being diversified. The market on average has remained relatively constant over the past few years. The lower end of the market and cheaper vacant land in particular has not fared to so well. Prices of vacant land are still substantially lower than 10 years ago. There are good buys available in various segments with sellers that have priced their properties realistically, and we feel it is a good time to buy. We hope to see you over the summer season.
Small Boat Harbour Update The developer's final scoping report was rejected, the deadline to submit a revised and compliant scoping report has passed and an application for extension of the deadline was rejected. The developer may appeal the rejection, but the chances of success seem remote. Should the develeper wish to proceed, the process will need to be started from scratch with an entirely new environmental application falling under newly enacted highly restrictive environmental and land use legislation.
